Perhaps you already have experience of construction claims, but would like to enhance your knowledge or career prospects. This course will help.
The course is based on a case study comprising a residential and commercial project where the Contractor encountered unforeseeable ground conditions. This caused the Contractor to incur standing time and it also caused delay to the groundworks.
In Module 1, we’ll illustrate how the Contractor was effected by this event and demonstrate the link between cause and effect. We’ll then move on to identify the potential claims and examine the contract to verify that the Contractor has an entitlement to make a claim. From here, we’re ready to build our claim…
Subsequent modules will look at:
- Contractual notice requirements
- Preparing the claim and delay analysis
- Cost calculations
- Compilation of and preliminaries to the claim
- Cause and effect
- Additional payment
- Entitlement
- Executive summary
- Statement of claim
- Substantiation
- Peer review
The module assignments will require you to carry out various tasks and produce sections of a claim for a second case study in parallel with the course topics covered in each module.
This course includes graded assignments, tutor support and 65 CPD hours and the option to join the Institute of Construction Claims Practitioners as a full member on successful completion.
